Wars

-- RECAP --

Written by: Transmetal

During a lunch break, the thought was brought up that any disagreements between Kain and the submissive editors should be decided through a war. A massive war involving all of our petty obssesions and misguided thoughts. The potential was obvious. Especially for Transmetal (read: "Petty obssesions and midguided thoughts") and Kain (read: "I rule all with an iron fist...or at least I'd like to"). The other editors could provide cannon fodder. This was going to be one epic series! And the plot? Franks, Beans, and Gundam! Thankfully though, there was very little of any of those throughout the story.

To be honest, Kain and Transmetal never actually sat down to discuss the plot. The so called "plot" was executed by Kain doing one episode, and Transmetal doing the next. Similar to when you make up a story around a campfire, with each participant making up one sentence. Somehow, it all comes together. But when someone asks one of us about the plot, we don't really know where to start. How do you describe a story in which you only know about half of? Hoping to clear up any confusion before the second half of the series begins, Transmetal has sat down and abbreviated the first 5 episodes into a somewhat understandable format. So, let us begin the epic known as Insert Name HereWar

Humanity was long past its prime. Society had lost its purpose. It flowed with excess, with worthless lives that were just a scar in the universe. It was time for a change. It is not known how it happened, but a great disaster struck. Billions of people died off in a single instant, along with all of humanitie's mistakes, accomplishments, and dreams. As if to give humanity a second chance, a lucky few would survive.

Prior to this disaster, shelters were built. The shelters were huge, they had the ability to hold approximately twenty thousand. However, only one was completed. Many thousands of people came, all seeking refuge. They were turned away. Like a virus, the evils of humanity had found a way to survive. Only the wealthy and powerful were allowed in.

Those who had sought refuge were angered by this. It was time for a change, and it was to be carried out by a destined few. These few were nothing more than common citizens. They attacked with nothing more than the ordinary strength of a man, but it was enough. Those individuals who used their position in society to enter the shelter were thrown out. The armed forces were brought in; they killed hundreds of the rioters. In the end, the shelter had to be sealed by those few commoners who had entered it. Amoung them, were Kain and Transmetal.

When they came out of the shelter, everything they had known was gone. The earth was a barren wasteland. Two men emerged as leaders; Kain and Transmetal. Transmetal proposed a move to space. He reasoned that a colony could be built from the remaining materials in the shelter. In a colony, humans could control their enviorment. Kain proposed the opposite, that they could rebuild on earth. With opinions on the two split, half went with each.

30 years had passed. Earth had regrown itself. Humans began to reproduce and spread across the continent. Without human interference, the planet had healed, except for one place. Kain had decided on his destiny; to rule the planet. The land surrounding his fortress remained as barren as possible, as Kain is alergic to pollen. He ruled Dark World, that which was once called Earth, with an iron grip.

In space, humanity lived out its existance just as they once had on Earth. Aided by technology, humanity reproduced at a much steadier, albiet faster, rate. Humans here were content and at peace. Surprisingly, this came as a direct result of Transmetal's leadership (or rather, lack there of). But it became certain that, despite their distance, Kain and Transmetal would eventually cross paths once again.

It was Kain who struck first. His needless anger towards those in space, resulted in a large beamcannon. A weapon that had the power to slice large space-faring objects in two. Those in the colony quickly noticed, and evacuated in escape pods. Transmetal himself barely escaped as the colony was cleaved in two. In an ironic twist of fate, humanity had been brought back down to their mother planet.

Transmetal planned his counterassault. He worked tirelessly on a fearsome cache of weapons, with which he intended to destroy Kain. He hid his work in a small, unassuming white building, several miles from Kain's fotress. But Kain wasn't so easily fooled, besides, the white building stood out from the black, scorched ground. A confrentation resulted in Kain's own fortress. After a short brawl, Transmetal realized that Kain was his superior in terms of strength. With the unexpected aid of Kain's assistant, Barbie Boy, Transmetal escaped. He vowed to find a way of defeating Kain. Kain quickly punished Barbie Boy by loading him into a 31/2 in. floppy disk, and sending him into space

A time of peace followed. The proverbial "calm before the storm". Transmetal built a one man colony, Bingo, in space. But finding it to be a little too small, he converted the moon itself into a cylindrical "Island Three" colony; it retained the name Bingo. Despite several strange mishaps involving Mother Nature, nothing important really happened.

The situation was quite different on Dark World. A nemises from Kain's past entered the scene. His motives were quite clear. Biosoldier plotted to free Dark World from Kain's grip, and rule it himself. If Biosoldier disliked the way things were ruled now, soon he would hate them even more. A freak accident caused the death of all the members of the Dark Council; the last vesige of democracy died with them. With Kain's newly aquired political power, he built his army; Nemises, and already powerful force, became the most respected power on the planet, second only to Kain himself.

Kain and Transmetal, however, were not the only powers at work. Subtle and cunning were those who bid their time; those shadowy figures in the background. One in space, one on Dark World. After a failed assasination attempt by Biosoldier, a mysterious girl appears before Kain. Alicia befriends Kain, leading him to safety. Alicia's apparent ignorance leads Kain into trusting her. But looks can be decieving. She leads Kain into a trap. She does this at the bidding of Shadow, a mercenary of Transmetal. Yet another deception. He works independently, and his true motives are, as of yet, unknown.

Biosoldier learned as Transmetal did, that it is impossible to defeat Kain in a one-on-one battle. But, unlike Transmetal, he couldn't easily forget his defeat. He went out into the villages, searching for those who would join the fight against Kain. There was safety in numbers, and there were a great many who wished for a change. Despite all that had happened, humanity had reverted to its previous pitiful state.

The militia attacked, having found Kain's location. Shadow's forces counterattacked. In the utter chaos and confusion that followed, Kain managed to escape and kill she who betrayed him. Kain formed an alliance with Biosoldier against Transmetal. In the background, Shadow laughs. His plans are coming close to fulfillment.

Kain sends Biosoldier ahead to Bingo. Equipped with the BarbieBoy infected 31/2 in. floppy disk, he plans to plunge the colony's systems into chaos. All the while, Kain continues to cement his control over the planet. He forms a matrimonial alliance with a powerful warrior, a figure from the past, brought into the present.

In space, things have begun to heat up as well. Transmetal's leadership hangs in a precarious balance. The choice between him and the mysterious Vladimir Forin seems rather obvious. In the middle of their campaigne speeches however, Biosoldier uploads the virus. Mass confusion ensues.

And to add to the general confusion, Kain's radar detects something in deep space. In the begining of the war, he had been too busy to notice it. He would soon pay for his ignorance. This "something", at first appeared to be an extremely large object. It's course was obvious: Dark World. Now, several months later, the object has continued its journey. It has come close enough, that radar can now clearly make out the object. It is not one singular object, many thousands of space faring objects. Kain now has more than Transmetal to worry about. His huge army doesn't seem to be pure overkill anymore. It's size is neccesary to protect the planet from this new threat.

The two sides of humanity are about to be plunged into chaos, a war that will decide the very fate of not only the poor chaps who wrote the story, but of the very destiny of the human race. And what about the incoming object Kain detected on radar? The stage is set for the second act. Enjoy.
