Pursuit of Kain
Part 3
Kain’s Revenge
Written by: Kain

Soldiers marching through a field have one thing in common:  Their mission.  How they fulfill this mission is of no one’s concern.  Soldiers marching into battle have one fear:  Death.  Many will die.  Many will live...long enough to die.  Most will never be the same again.  Those who left their wives/husbands, and children to join Biosoldier’s militia will return home completely different and cold people.  First, they have to survive.

     "Shadow?”

     "What is it?”

"We have a problem.  A group of civilian soldiers are coming up to the cave.  They know we’re here.”

"They know Kain is here!”  Shadow no longer let his rationality come into play, instead, he let his anger take over.  "Call the drones.  We will fight them off using the automated turrets.”  Alicia did what he said and, before the soldiers could react, the automated turrets were firing into the group.  Fifteen were taken out directly.  The others found cover among the trees.  Biosoldier could hardly believe his eyes.  "How could he have such an advanced defense out in the middle of nowhere?” he thought to himself.  "This doesn’t make any sense.”

Kain, sitting in his prison, was listening intently to the sounds of gunfire outside the cave.  He knew what was happening.  His captors had a little problem on their hands.  This was Kain’s chance.  He would wait, bide his time, until the attackers came looking into each room for their enemies.  When one looked in his room, he would kill him.  If it were a "she”, he would knock her out and leave her in his prison.  Maybe his captors would be victorious and believe the person wrapped in the covers was Kain, trying to save his own life.  Upon Kain’s second thought, he decided he would kill anyone looking around.

The soldiers fought back against the turrets.  The turrets took out as many soldiers as possible, but alas, they were destroyed.  The soldiers went into the cave to look for Kain.  Biosoldier led them in.  They were met with a group of tunnels.  Having only eighteen soldiers left, Biosoldier split them up into groups of three.  Each group went into the tunnel assigned to them.  Biosoldier went a different way entirely.  He went through the door that the automated turrets came out of.

As the soldiers went through the tunnels, each group met different automated defenses.  The machine turrets mowed some down; some barely escaped destruction from rocket launching, mobile destroyers.  Three soldiers look from room to room to find Kain.  A door leads into complete darkness.  Felicia is about to close the door when a metal pipe rolls out of the darkness.  She bends down to pick it up.  "I’ll go in and look around with the flashlight.”  She looks up.  It’s Dirk, a brave, noble man that has always put his soldiers lives in front of his.  She looked up to him and felt as though she could always rely on him.  "Okay, do it.”  She watches him go in with loving eyes.  Five minutes goes by.  No sign of Dirk can be seen.

"Dirk!  Dirk!”  Still no sign.  She begins to walk in.  Bam! She is hit in the chest with a large object.  She clutches the wet object and looks down upon it.  She screams with horror as she let’s Dirk’s bloody head fall to the floor.  She couldn’t take her eyes off of the gory mess until a black boot stepped right next to his head.  She looked up, scared beyond belief.  The horror she never thought she would have to face was right in front of her.  Kain looked deep into her clear, blue eyes.  "I thank you for releasing me from my prison.”  With that he tears the heart out of her still living companion and holds it up to her.  "Here, have a heart.”  She burst into tears as she realized she would never again see her friends, her parents, her love, or her sisters.  Kain’s fiery, red eyes would be the last thing she would ever see.

The soldiers got farther than Shadow ever thought they could.  Shadow was holding the last nine off with his chain gun while Alicia tried to close the blast doors.  Shadow got three of the soldiers before the blast doors were closed.  Shadow threw down the gun and put a finger into his mask to itch his nose.  "Why do wear a mask, Shadow?”

"I don’t want Kain to know my face.”

"Why didn’t you tell me to wear a mask?  If Kain knows my face, he’ll try to kill me, won’t he?”

"I won’t let him.  Besides, Kain would have never have followed you if he didn’t see your face.  Come on now, who wouldn’t trust such a beautiful face such as yours, my sweet.”

"Don’t ever talk like that again.”  She said almost half jokingly, but nonetheless, she put her arms around Shadow and held him tight.  He put his arms around her, but could only wonder if Kain had made his escape like he was supposed to.  Shadow almost made himself hurl when he said "my sweet”.  He wished Kain would be where he needed him when Alicia and Shadow left.

Alicia broke their embrace, and Shadow had to work to hide the surprise.  The surprise was not from the breaking of the embrace, but from the fact that Shadow had forgotten that they had embraced.  "I’ll open the exit doors.”  She went to the control board, typed a few keys, and the doors began to open.  She smiled at Shadow.  When she turned to the door, she saw Kain standing there, flipping a coin.

"Each choice has two sides, like a coin.  You had a decision to make.  You could have chosen to lead me to safety, but you chose to lead me into a trap.”  She turned to Shadow, but Shadow was not there.  "Oh, don’t worry.  I’ll deal with your friend later.  Right now, I wish to talk to you.  You chose to betray my trust...”

"I had no choice, Kain.”

"So then the second side of the coin is not an option.  Then you still could have chosen a different path.”

"You said this is a coin.  A coin only has two sides.”

"Ah, but, say you flip the coin into a certain environment.  Say that it lands in a shallow crack.  It would be on its edge, wouldn’t it?  A third side to the coin, no?”

"Kain, I beg of you...”

Kain chuckles to himself.  He puts a hand, softly, onto Alicia’s shoulder.  He looks into her eyes.  She finds no harshness in his eyes.  She just sees a kind of joy or satisfaction in his eyes.  "I have no problem with your betrayal of me.”  She becomes more relaxed as Kain starts to sooth her.  "But, I can’t stand one thing.  If you betray someone, do it right!”  Kain’s eyes fill with hatred at his last word.  Alicia’s with terror as he pushes her with all his might into the wall.  A convenient spike, sticking out of the wall, impales her.  She dies instantly.  Her blood dripping down the wall into a puddle on the floor.  Kain walks away as if nothing happened.

Shadow managed to get away through a secret tunnel he didn’t tell Alicia about.  He changes his clothes, whips off his mask, and relaxes.  His thoughts were of how Alicia must have looked when she realized Shadow was not there.  Kain killed Alicia.  He was sure of that.  Kain would not pass up the opportunity to take revenge on his wrongdoers.  Shadow almost wished he could have watched her final moments.  "She probably broke down when she realized that I lied to her about ruling together.  She was probably so sad when she figured out that I set her up to die.”  Shadow chuckled.  He really is a sick bastard.

"Sir, we didn’t find Kain.”

"Alright, go home then.”  The soldiers dropped their arms and marched off towards their homes.  Biosoldier couldn’t believe this.  Out of his forty militia troops, only six made it back alive.  Biosoldier started to leave when, out of nowhere, a thud sounded behind him.  He twirled around.  Kain stood menacingly in front of him.  They stare each other down.  "Tell me, Biosoldier.  How much do you hate Transmetal?”

"I don’t hate him, I hate you!”

"Is that a fact?  How much would it take for you to become a hired mercenary?”

"I’m listening.”  Kain talked with Biosoldier about Transmetal’s deception.  He talked to convince Biosoldier of how Transmetal could not be trusted.  When Biosoldier refused to believe, Kain’s offer of 500 million dollars convinced him.  "Do you have any means of attacking the colony without bringing it down?”

"Yes, I found a virus on this disc.  I found it in the escape pod from Transmetal’s colony.”  Kain looked at the disc, definitely amused.  "I know that virus.  It will cripple the systems.  I’ll supply you with transportation back to the colony.  A civilian shuttle should do nicely.”  Biosoldier agreed and, in an hour, took off for the colony.

At Kain’s retreat on the shores of the Blood Sea, Kain met up with Cheesy Boy in Kain’s throne room.  "I wasn’t sitting on it, Kain...I...I was...I was just...I was just keeping it warm for you.”

"...I want to hurt you, but later.  Right now, I will inform you that you are now my right hand.  Freido died in the castle explosion.  Since you were being kept in the dog pen, you survived.  You are now my right hand.”

"Yeah, he died in the castle explosion.”  Cheesy Boy thought back to the day of the explosion and how he dropped a big truck on Freido’s head.  "That ought to keep you out of my candy dish!”

"What?” Kain looked very strangely at Cheesy Boy.

"Oh! Nothing, Kain, I just thought back to when I ki...I mean, I smacked a squirrel for trying to take a piece of candy from me.”  Kain just rolled his eyes and went back to his speech.  "Transmetal was at the base of this attack.  I want to start preparing the army for war.  Give them my orders.”

As Kain finished his orders, the radar man ran into the room.  "Sir, we have found a large, no, huge, object coming at us on radar.  It is at least four episodes away, but it looks dangerous.”

"Is it what I found before?”

"Yes sir.”  Kain didn’t want to have to deal with a new problem right now.  He sent Cheesy Boy to give his orders to the Nemesis.  He told him to have them ready within a month for space battle.  He would not let anyone get in his way.  Now, he had to take care of a little secret that he found out.

On Bingo, Biosoldier stopped by at Transmetal’s pad.  "Yo, I have this virus that I’m supposed to upload so that the entire colony will be crippled.  Do you know where I need to put it?”

"Oh yeah, just upload it to the master computer in the core.”

"Thanks.”

"No problem.  Vote Transmetal!”  With that, Biosoldier went into the colony’s core and uploaded the virus.  On the screen, a small, annoying, blonde boy appeared. "HI BIOSOLDIER!”

"OH MY GOD!  IT’S...IT’S...BARBIE BOY!”

Deep within a cave, miles below Dark World’s surface, Kain accesses an ancient place of science.  "This is it.”  Kain opened the final security door.  He looked around the cold, dark room.  He found the light switch.  He looked around the cold, bright room.  His eyes met a machine.  A weapon. "I didn’t know that was here.”  He seized the weapon.  He laughed maniacally.  He went on searching for his secret.  He saw a new machine.  A power boosted, space armor was right in front of his eyes.  "Man, I keep finding all these goodies, but not the secret.”  He puts the weapon down at the feet of the armor.  He goes on searching.

"I say that Transmetal is not doing all he can about the colonies situation!”  Shen Tzu-Long is trying to stir up heat against Transmetal.  It seems to be working.  Transmetal just sits there, playing his GBA.  He doesn’t even know where he is.  Vladimir Forin stands up and proclaims that he can save this colony, but not until he is put into office.  Everyone cheers his name, until all the screens in the colony light up with Barbie Boy’s face.  "HI EVERYBODY!”  Every gasps, simultaneously.  Well, not everyone, Transmetal is still playing his GBA.  Barbie Boy explains how he is now the ruler of the colony and that everyone should obey him.  Everyone laughs in his face.

Kain, now with a big pile of goodies at the feet of the space armor, finally finds what he has been looking for.  He looks in the glass chamber at the beautiful, closed eyes of a nineteen year-old girl, frozen in time for decades.  Kain feels around the control panel to find the switch to revive her.  He finds it.  As she begins to pull herself back into the life stream, Kain looks on at her, her quick breathing getting slower, her eyesight focusing, and her muscles relaxing.  "Welcome back, Tifa.”  She looked up at him.  "It’s been a long time since some one called me that.  How old are you?”

"I’m eighteen.”

"You look twenty-four.  Have you been in a lot of battles, or are you just tired?”

She was mean.  Kain liked her at the start.  "I rule over this land that you once ruled over.  You’ve been frozen for ninety years.  I freed you so that I could finally have the pleasure of talking with someone who may be just as strategically advanced as I, if not more.”

"What do you want?  I won’t give you strategies.”

"I don’t want strategies.  I can make those up on my own.  What I want is to give you a proposition.  I want you to come back to my retreat.  There you would become my queen.  I am the king of this world.  I want you to rule by my side.”

"Will I have total control?”

"Almost.  I am the only one who has any say in anything that you order the soldiers to do.”

"I agree then, uh...you never told me your name.”

"Kain.”

"Well, Kain, it looks as though you have yourself a partner, a strategist, a queen, a wife.”  Kain didn’t realize until now, that he had made his proposal sound matrimonial.  Kain almost smacked himself in the forehead, but he stopped himself.  He looked at Tifa.  She was looking back at him curiously.  Kain found that he really needed Tifa to be on his side.  Tifa was growing impatient.  Kain could see that.  "Alright, it’s settled.  We will rule together.”

"We will be wed in two days.  Wear what you are now.  I like black and red.”  Once again, Kain almost hit himself.  Marriage.  He had never thought he would ever get married.  Well, he thought that if he did, it would be after getting drunk in Las Vegas, not to further his career as a tyrant.  Oh well, Tifa was even more evil than he was, so he would probably begin to like her anyway.  If he didn’t, then he would still have history’s most capable mind.  They left the chamber and loaded up all the goodies that Kain had found (including the space armor) and headed for the retreat.  Two days later was their marriage.  Cheesy Boy cried through the whole thing.  His monkey ate all his chocolate covered raisins, you see.  When Kain was asked if he would take Tifa to be his wife, he was caught sleeping standing up.  Tifa kicked Kain in his ribs to wake him up.  Kain, painfully, said, "I do...ouch.”

Kain had the space armor enhanced and mass-produced for all his soldiers.  Tifa had the rail gun, a mighty beam weapon, mass-produced, as well.  Kain then had a special armor made for himself.  The "Demon Armor” was under construction.  It would be a strong armor that he would use to lead his...er...their army into battle.  Unfortunately, with all the enhancements being made, the troops wouldn’t be ready for another six months (roughly three episodes).  Tifa suddenly stepped into the room.  "You know, everyone is beginning to be afraid of our ruling the entire solar system.”

"I know. It’s because of you, Dominion.  They are all afraid of your legacy.  They thought I was cruel and unforgiving, but you are the wild card.  They don’t know what to make of you.”

"They’ll deal with it.  I came here to tell you something.”

"What?”

"You know how we didn’t give each other wedding gifts because of this not being a marriage out of love?”

"What do you want?”

"I want to give you this advanced rail cannon that my development team came up with.”

"I’ll take it.”

"Are you going to give me anything in return?”

"I burned down your hedges, isn’t that enough?”  Tifa kicked him in the side, sending him sprawling across the floor.  "No, it isn’t.  I want new hedges to replace the ones you burned, and I want to know how you have been around for seventy years and are still eighteen.”

"That’s easy.  The writers of this story are morons.”

Well, that’s enough of that scene.  We now bring you to Kain and Tifa standing around watching the preparations for war.  "You know we will make a great couple of ruling tyrants.”

"You're growing soft, Tifa.”

"We will rule all, Kain.  This is not your twisted game of whims anymore.  This is my return to dictatorship.”

"I know.  We will rule.  After I put an end to Transmetal, nothing will stop us.”  The radar man runs into the room.  "Sir, the object you had us monitor, it’s actually several thousand objects.”  Tifa and Kain look at each other.  Neither knows what it is.  Both have very bad feelings about it.

The end is near...
